What is the EAC mark?

The EAC mark, or Eurasian Conformity, is a special symbol used within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This mark serves as confirmation that the product has undergone conformity assessment and meets all mandatory requirements of the technical regulations established by this union. The EAEU consists of five countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, which have agreed on common standards to ensure the safety and quality of goods circulating within their territory.

The standards adopted within the EAEU are verified during certification before a product is granted the right to be labeled with the EAC mark. Just as the CE mark certifies a product's compliance with European Union standards, the EAC mark performs a similar function for EAEU countries. For example, electric kettles sold in Russia and other EAEU countries must have the EAC mark, guaranteeing their safety and compliance with standards.

Who must label the product and when?

Labeling with the EAC mark is mandatory for manufacturers producing goods within the EAEU countries, as well as for importers bringing products from other countries. The responsibility for the presence of the EAC mark lies with those who put the product into circulation. If the product is manufactured in one of the EAEU countries, the manufacturer must ensure that their products meet all necessary standards and undergo certification.

In the case of importing goods from outside the EAEU, it is the importer who bears the responsibility for checking the product and obtaining the certificate of conformity. Labeling must be done before the product is introduced to the market, as bringing a product to a warehouse or store without the EAC mark is a violation of the law. In this case, the product may be seized, and the company may face fines.

  • TR EAEU 004/2011 "On the safety of low-voltage equipment": Covers industrial electrical equipment and household electrical appliances operating at certain voltages.
  • TR EAEU 010/2011 "On the safety of machinery and equipment": Regulates the safety of industrial-use machinery.
  • TR EAEU 007/2011 "On the safety of products intended for children and adolescents": Covers toys, clothing, and other products designed for children.

Main steps to obtain the EAC mark

The process of obtaining the EAC mark includes several steps that the manufacturer or importer must follow:

  1. Determine the product category: Understanding which technical regulations apply to the product.
  2. Prepare documentation: Collecting necessary documents, including technical descriptions and user manuals.
  3. Conduct testing: Laboratory tests to check the product's compliance with established requirements.
  4. Obtain a declaration or certificate: Receiving a document confirming the product's compliance with requirements.
