How to publish materials in Zen via a Telegram bot?

Friends, do you often ask how to set up automatic publication in Zen?

This is possible! Now you can set up automatic publishing in Zen through the official bot from your Telegram channel. Currently, this is the only way to automate publications, as Yandex does not provide direct integration yet.

We are monitoring updates, and as soon as direct integration becomes available, we will definitely add this feature to our service. But this doesn't prevent you from setting up publication with the bot right now.

How does it work?

  • You schedule publications in the Telegram channel through our service.
  • The bot automatically transfers posts from Telegram to Zen.

Let's go through step by step how to set this up.

Zen Requirements

  • The Telegram channel must be public (private channels are not supported).
  • Only one Telegram channel can be linked to one Zen channel (and vice versa).

Features of Publications

When you set up automatic posting from a Telegram channel to Zen through the official bot, it is important to consider several key points that affect the final appearance of the materials.

Firstly, the system uses the first sentence of your Telegram post as the article's title, and it is important to ensure that it is no longer than 140 characters (including spaces) or else the text will be truncated. Secondly, the first image attached to the post is automatically used for the cover.

Also, note that all text formatting (bold, italics, lists, quotes) from Telegram is not preserved. In Zen, the text will appear as a continuous block without highlights. As for media files: images and videos up to 20 MB are supported (for videos, this is usually about 1-2 minutes in average quality) — anything more than this limit will simply not upload.

Setting Up Crossposting (Step-by-Step Guide)

Step 1. Launching the Bot

  1. Open the bot via the link..
  2. Click "Start".

Step 2. Getting the Access Code in Zen

  1. Open Zen and go to the Studio.
  2. Go to "Settings".
  3. Select "Crossposting" (in the menu on the left).
  4. Click "Telegram" → "Get Access Code".
  5. Copy the code (it is valid for 30 minutes).

Step 3. Insert the Code into the Bot

  1. Return to the conversation with @zen_sync_bot.
  2. Send the copied code.

Step 4. Add the Bot to the Administrators of the Telegram Channel

  1. Open your Telegram channel.
  2. Go to the channel settings, select "Administrators" and "Add Administrator".
  3. Find @zen_sync_bot in the search (or enter zen_sync_bot).
  4. Click "Save".

Step 5. Send the Channel Link to the Bot

  1. Copy the link to the Telegram channel.
  2. Send the link to the conversation with @zen_sync_bot.

Done! Now all posts from Telegram will be automatically published in Zen.

How to Change the Linked Channel?

If you need to link another channel, enter the command in the bot: /restart. This will reset the settings, and you can repeat the process from the beginning.

How to Disable Crossposting?

  1. Open the Telegram channel.
  2. Go to the channel settings, then "Administrators".
  3. Find @zen_sync_bot and click "Delete".

Now the posts will not be transferred to Zen.
