Open the app, tap the plus sign at the bottom center of the screen, select "Story" and press the "Create" button (Aa).

In the bottom right corner of the screen, tap the multicolored circle. Each tap will offer different gradient options.

Colored Background
A colored background allows you to add not only text but also photos or videos. To create a solid color background, you need to follow a few simple steps.
Step 1
Open the app, tap the plus sign at the bottom center of the screen, select "Story" and choose any photo.

In the top right corner of the screen, tap the three dots and in the drop-down menu, select the "Drawing" function.
Step 3
Choose the background color you like the most – options will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4
Press and hold any spot on the photo for a couple of seconds – the picture will become a solid color.

Now you can add photos, videos, text, and more – whatever you need.
Custom Background
You can use a custom background for Stories, meaning any photo. The main thing to remember is that if you plan to place text on top, the picture should be in the calmest tones possible. Though, you can create an overlay for the text so that the letters don't blend with the background.
