The popular messenger Telegram has many useful features that not everyone knows about. For example, the ability to quote not the entire message but only a part of it. Let's figure out how to do this.

The ability to reply to a message in Telegram has been working since the service appeared. And everyone knows how it works: you need to right-click (in the desktop version) or hold your finger (in the mobile app) on the desired message, then select "Reply." However, often you may want to reply not to the entire message but only to a part of it. Such a feature was added by Telegram in October 2023, but not everyone uses it actively.

To quote part of a message from a conversation partner (or your message) when replying, do the following.

In the mobile app

Step 1

Select the message and press "Reply."

Step 2

Click on the text preview block — a "Reply to Message" window will open. In it, select "Select Fragment" and mark the part of the text you want to quote.

Step 3

Click "Quote" and write a reply to the selected part of the message.

Step 2

Click on the highlighted fragment with the left mouse button and in the drop-down menu select "Reply with Quote."

Step 3

Write a reply to the conversation partner and send it.

All done! Quote part of a message in Telegram to add specificity to your response and avoid possible misunderstandings.
